IT’S A NEW YEAR — We have welcomed many new residents in the past year. We would just like to make sure all of you “newbies” are aware of some of the amenities we have here in the Upper Pontalba. • Library: We started the library about 5 years ago, and have found it to be a huge success. If you have a book you have finished with, bring it down and leave it in the basket. Help yourself to a new book. We do have space limitations, so we limit our books to fiction only. We try to keep an assortment of popular authors and popular genres. As we fill the shelves with new arrivals, the books that are rotated out are donated too the Jefferson Parish library for their book sale. • Fitness Center: The Fitness room has an assortment of basic machines for your use. As a matter of fact we have just purchased a new treadmill. For security reasons we do keep the room locked. You should have received a key when you moved in. If not you can pick one up from Tiffany. • Glass Recycling: We do partner with the Glass Half Full project for glass recycling. The glass they pick up is recycled to provide a product that is used for coastal restoration. The glass recycle bin is located in the inside trash room at the St. Ann/Rampart corner of the building. DO YOU EVER USE OUR GROCERY OR LUGGAGE CARTS ?????? Once again this is becoming an issue. Please return the carts to the proper storage area. Do not leave them in the halls or elevators. In most cases we suspect that caregivers are the offenders. Please be sure your caregivers know where to return the carts. DO YOU HAVE A GARAGE ?????????? If so, please pay attention to this. The only things that can be stored on the floor of the garage are automobiles and bicycles. (For now, small empty carts with wheels are acceptable.) The garage floors are not to be used as a storage area. Furniture, boxes, or any other items stored on the floor are an attraction for insects and vermin. SO: This serves as a friendly reminder for you to make sure you have everything cleared out. In a few weeks we will be checking each garage unit. If there are still items on the floor, you will be given an official notice. After that, we will have any items left on garage floors picked up and sent to charity. (We don’t want to have to do that, so please do your part.) WINTER SOCIAL Thursday, January 8 6:00 RSVP to Tiffany $15.00 The people who make fitted sheets need to sit down with the people who make mattresses, and get on the same page. Making a bed should not be like putting a swim cap on a refrigerator.
